Yesterday Kali was all too excited to skip out on school (with sister Kyrsti in tow). It was the 4th year that we had the privilege of the pink with 5 Edmonton Rush players.
Chris Mcelroy, team captain has lead his boys in our awareness campaign since 07.
To watch these fellows in action, one would not expect them to be as fun and personable as well know them to be. They're BIG and mean down there on the field, but the nicest guys you'd ever meet.
Edmonton Sun, CBC and City TV were out there for over an hour taking progressive footage from the bleaching process to the initial application of the pink. Kyrsti and Kali were invited by media to assist Marvel students with the pinking. Nicki and I had camera in hand (as usual) and soaked in the crazy energy at Marvel. Jacquie (owner of Marvel) always a delight to be around and to work with - Marvel College has been with us now for 5 years.
The hilarious part of this is knowing that they will "alter" their helmets and jerseys (once the first sweat breaks out...hehehe). Chris and Ryan have been there, done that - so they know anything white that touches them is PINK, and they are cool with that (obviously...). Its as though its a trophy, and how cool is that?
Edmonton Rush plays tonight and next Saturday (30th) they will be shaving their lids on the field immediately following the game. We will be there, Kali Bear will be delighting the crowd (hehehe..... what happens at the RUSH game STAYS at the RUSH game), and we will have a table for some of our Massacure people. RUSH will be supporting us again through their yearly sponsorship. Thanks guys!!
